BOTOX Cosmetic

These muscle relaxers are responsible for a revolution in cosmetic dermatology. Botulinum toxin is injected into strategic locations on the patient’s face. This highly purified protein relaxes the muscles beneath the surface of the skin, minimizing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Within one or two days after the injection, the patient starts to notice that their crow’s feet and frown lines are much less noticeable than before, and the results last for about four months.

BOTOX is administered on an outpatient basis at our convenient office in Lafayette. Contact us today to find out if you are a good candidate.

Facial Fillers

The second most requested cosmetic procedure after Botox, fillers are used to restore volume loss that occurs as a natural part of the aging process. These go by well-known brand names like Juvederm, Voluma, Belotero and Radiesse, and they rely on natural substances like calcium and hyaluronic acid. Each filler differs in its thickness and is appropriate for specific uses from deep volume loss such as the cheek bones to fine lines around the mouth.  They can also be used to fill a depressed scar, add volume to the lips, or improve the look of aging hands.

Chemical Peels

It is possible to purchase at-home chemical peels, but the ones performed as part of our cosmetic dermatology services are far more powerful and effective. Chemical peels can be used to correct a number of imperfections like uneven skin tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, and a dull complexion.

Laser Treatment for Vascular Lesions

Vascular lesions are typically the result of increased number or thickness of blood vessels. They may manifest as rosacea, cherry angiomas, spider veins, strawberry hemangiomas or port wine stains. Dermatologists had limited ability to treat these lesions in the past, but that has changed with the advent of lasers. With few side effects and a tremendous potential for improvement, it is well worth exploring laser therapy for vascular lesions.

Micro-Needling

If you are bothered by fine lines and wrinkles or mild acne scars, then you may want to try a micro-needling treatment. This procedure can also be used to correct skin texture problems or to minimize large pores. Your dermatologist may recommend a course of three or more treatments to attain optimal results. The micro-needling device used in our dermatology practice is extremely effective at stimulating the skin to produce collagen.
