What is Pico Genesis FX?

How does the treatment work?
PICO Genesis FX delivers ultra-short fractionated laser energy to create small, gentle micro-wounds in the upper layers of the skin to induce collagen stimulation and remodeling. With fractionated energy, the majority of the skin remains unharmed, resulting in faster healing time. With PICO Genesis FX, results can be achieved with a higher safety margin and less downtime than traditional fractional resurfacing treatments.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of recommended treatments will vary based on the concern being treated. While some patients will see results after a single treatment, most need a series of three to six treatments for optimal results. Results will continue to improve over time with the best results seen at about 3 months following your final treatment.
What are the possible side effects, and is there downtime?
Following the PICO Genesis FX treatment, your skin will be red for several hours. Over the next few days, your skin will begin the remodeling and repair process, and you may see some darkening of pigment and slight crusting of the treatment area. Your provider will recommend a plan tailored to your skin concerns and treatment expectations.
What is Radio Frequency Microneedling?
This treatment uses radio frequency energy via small microneedles to address the signs of aging, scars, stretch marks, sun damage, texture, and large pores.

Our radio frequency (RF) microneedling device, the Cutera SecretPro, uses specially insulated needles that deliver high-intensity radio frequency energy into the targeted tissue under your skin. How many treatments will I need?
Treatment sessions are determined by your provider. Typically, 1-4 treatments are needed based upon your individual skin condition.
When will I see the results?
Initial results are seen in approximately 4-6 weeks with progressive improvement and full results in approximately 3 months after treatment. Yearly maintenance treatments are recommended.
Melasma, Sun Spots and Brown Spots
Pico Genesis is a new laser system that uses photo-mechanical laser energy instead of thermal energy used by other lasers. This helps to provide a safer, faster and more effective treatment of affected skin. Because Pico Genesis is non-thermal based it also does not risk damaging the pigmented skin or surrounding area and making it worse like other thermal laser treatments.
Melasma can be a very stubborn skin pigmentation problem, but because Pico Genesis works by shattering the pigment instead of risking heat damage by using thermal lasers the risk of making the skin pigmentation problem worse through treatment is eliminated. Other laser treatments risk damaging the skin further with treatment

Will I need to take time off work after getting my tattoo removed with Enlighten?
No. It is generally not necessary to take time off of normal social events after treatment, but you will want to be more careful of your skin directly after treatment. After more intense sessions of Enlighten for tattoo removal there will sometimes be swelling and slight blistering. For more intense treatment of pigmentation issues with Pico Genesis some swelling and flaking can occur.
How much does Enlighten hurt?
For most people it is significantly less painful than getting a tattoo. It will sting, but most people have no problem tolerating it unless they have very sensitive skin.
How many treatments will I need?
While people generally start to see results after the first 1-2 treatments it is usually necessary to have between 3-6 for maximum effectiveness. Take a look at the difference between results of the more traditional Q-switch treatments above and the Enlighten laser to get an idea of the difference between them in even the toughest situations.
Can I get it for large tattoos?
Yes. Enlighten is for tattoos of all shapes and sizes. Some will be harder than others to treat, but all tattoos can be significantly reduced if not completely eliminated. Take a look at the example of a back tattoo that was mostly removed after 4 Enlighten treatments. The amount we are able to remove will depend on a number of factors, including the colors and depth of the ink in your skin.
Can you guarantee that it will completely erase my tattoos?
Unfortunately, that’s not possible… yet. The Enlighten laser is the most advanced and effective treatment available for tattoo removal, but technology has not made it to the point yet that we can guarantee full removal without a trace. What we can guarantee is that we will work with you every step of the way to achieve the best result possible. How effective treatment will be for each tattoo depends on a number of factors outside of our control, including the depth of the tattoo and the colors of the ink.
